Cambridge Academy was honoured to host the first Viking Cup, over the weekend of 7th/8th May 2016. Four Viking countries participated in this international event: Finland, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland, including members of nine different clubs.

A visiting official from France, Alain Gernet, started the weekend with an in depth course for novice and experienced officials. The competition was open to fighters of all ages and levels, from beginners up, and we were pleased to have World Champions and Vice-Champions in the ring. Over two days of competition, 38 assaut matches were held, along with 10 duo bouts. There was a warm and friendly atmosphere between fighters throughout the competition. The team of officials also worked well, for long hours.

We are delighted to announce that Cambridge Academy, won the title of Champion Club, followed by Helsinki. Great Britain took the title of Champion Nation, followed by Finland.
